| Our Parade of Trucks! |
Saturday, June 23, 2007 was a beautiful sun-filled day for our twenty-sixth year of holding rallies. It was thrilling to sit at the Expo entrance and photograph most of the 229 trucks as they arrived-one-by-one and fleet-by-fleet.
The sound of diesel engines and air horns filled the fairgrounds as the trucks lined up for the parade. It took two hours to complete the eight mile. The photo above was taken by our grandson Hezekiah, from the passenger seat of the lead truck-TFC's International Mobile Chapel!
There were many events scheduled throughout the day in addition to the Parade of Trucks. One of which was a presentation by Bethel Truck Service (Bethel, PA). They demonstrated how a wrecked rig is brought upright-first by coming on Friday evening and laying a burned-out rig on its side and on top of a car (with a dummy inside) using tow trucks and huge cords made of strong rope.
When the parade was over, the truck service along with the Fire Company and EMTs gave a demonstration of how they each respond. The fire company went into action first-cutting the "person" out of the car. As soon as "the victim" was rescued by EMT, Bethel Truck Service used huge airbags and other equipment to put the rig upright and back on its wheels. It was quite fun watching the reaction of the crowd when the trailer wheels hit the ground with a thud!
I was reminded of the process God goes through to upright our lives-sometimes after a lifetime of making bad choices, or simply a painful experience. Getting our feet back on the ground cannot be done on our own, without yielding to God's cords of love and provision of fulfillment. "I drew them with gentle cords" (Hosea 11:4 NKJV). "For this reason I kneel before the Father...I pray that...you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 4:14-19 NIV).
Because of YOU, our ministry partners, we were able to share God's words of life to those who came. Thanks also belong to all the vendors, volunteers, advertisers, sponsors, and the Truck Rally Committee who helped us have such a wonderful day.
We received this note from Jim Zdrodowski with Moose Transport of Bloomfield, NY, "Thank you for putting on a wonderful show in Lebanon. 2007 was my first year attending, and it will certainly not be the last! It is rare that truckers feel the great appreciation that is so plentiful at your show. Keep up the good work."
